My product marketing journey has been one hell of a rollercoaster, but I still find it inspiring and beautiful.
I’m a certified Medical Laboratory Scientist who transitioned into product marketing. Now that I typed this, I believe this counts as eventful and dramatic lol.
I mean, who would have thought that a medical lab science graduate would end up in the world of marketing? Definitely not me.
In any case, I officially began my journey when I got admitted into Altschool in September 2023. This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my amazing friends who believed in me and paid for my quarterly renewal subscription throughout my AltSchool journey.
Now to my first semester at AltSchool honestly, it was chilled, like I said uneventful but full of learning and I loved it. It made me fall in love with product marketing even more. It was like a girl receiving flowers from her admirer. I blossomed with more interest in product marketing. I was in love with product marketing.
Fast Forward to my second semester, the love began to choke. Lol. It got real in the second semester I began to see the demands of being a good product marketer and all it entailed. With short deadlines and hectic projects, our love stood the test of time. I mean gold must go through fire to be purified and at the end of it, I found myself loving product marketing more.
Along the line, I got an internship opportunity as a product marketer with VOA Charity and NrtCRO in year 2024 and even landed a role as a marketing specialist with a SaaS company called Esemie.
If you’re thinking about switching careers, let me tell you, fear is a liar! I jumped from medical lab science to product marketing, and I haven’t looked back. Trust me, it’s scary, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. And hey, don’t forget to trust God. He’s got your back.
Product marketing has now become a way of life for me. I love bringing ideas and weaving them to life. One of the highlights of my journey was when I held a visibility class for 20 Small business owners online. I enjoyed helping them create ideas unique to their business and holding their hands through the implementation process.
You can’t imagine how proud I felt when they began to share their testimonies about the class and how it has helped their business increase visibility and revenue. It was a proud teacher moment for me.
As I said my journey has been uneventful but inspiring and beautiful nonetheless. To me, it’s like a beautiful love story budding one that would end like two old partners sitting in their mansion face timing their grandkids all over the world. I believe that product marketing and I are going to do big things together.
